Bio
Khari Johnson-Ricks is an artist and DJ whose work encompasses the production of parties, zines, workshops, and tutorials for the public as a means of facilitating Cross Cultural exchange centering happiness and perpetuating sanctuary spaces for marginalized bodies. This work often looks like Video art, Murals, Digital Renderings and Night Life spaces and exist primarily as call and response to whatever community of people he is working with. In his 2-D work he looks closely at contemporary sports and training culture as a framework for a new type of religious practice that centers the pursuit of happiness through a historical lineage of how QTPOCs have reclaimed there bodies and environments.
